Bapchild Cricket Club

4 games – 4 wins

The Club’s senior teams achieved a clean sweep at the weekend

The 1st XI chalked up their first win when hosting Kings Hill. Electing to bat the team got off to a slow start and rocky start finding themselves 5 down for 50 odd runs.   Matt Lewis’s 39 runs in with a negative strike rate !!!   built a platform that Mike Willis (53) superbly took advantage of and supported by Chris Knope (25 no) and Owen Harrison (16) and Tyler Wassell (14 no)  late in the day to reach a well earned 189 for 8 off 50 overs

Harry Mantle (4 for 57) picked up early wickets supported by Owen Harrison (0 for 14) but the visitors scored regularly and looked in a strong position but a fine spell of bowling from Ricky Dale (4 for 23) and Tom Carey (1 for 37) broke the back of the visitors innings and with Harry Mantle return followed by Tyler Wassell the last two wickets fell in the 34th over and 50 runs short of the total

The 2nd XI travelled to Cobham and was put into bat.  They also found themselves number of wickets down with a few runs on the board but a captain’s innings from James Sutton (56) supported by James Weller (27) and Chriss Hogg (39) they reached 181 for 7 in their 46 overs.

A good opening spell from Ethan Collier (3 for 25) followed by wickets from Lee Cogger (2 for 49) and Glenn Kennett (2 for 22) and a cameo performance from Nick Page (2 for 9) saw the home team fall short by 14 runs as they were bowled out in the 44th over

The 3rd XI travelled to Yalding and was put into the field.  Ashley Bax (3 for 28) opened the bowling with Daniel Gunner.  Ella picked up 1 for 49 and Ben Dutnall (0 for 20) made his true debut at senior level.   It took the first five wicket haul of the season by Shiv Patel (5 for 10 off 10 overs) supported by Ian Hird (2 for 15) to finish off the home team as they were bowled all out on the last ball of the innings

Simon Cosstick (52) again got the team off to a good start supported by Steve Pumfrett (43) looked like the team would cross the line easily however wickets fell regularly and it took Shiv Patel (5) to hit a four on the 5th to last ball of the match to win the game.

The Sunday XI travelled to Harvel who lost an early wicket to Owen Harrison (3 for 29) with debutant Ben Ryder (0 for 21 off 9 overs) supporting put early pressure.  Anthony Burbury picked up 3 for 39 with William Cosstick (2 for 23) and Oscar Hird (1 for 23) saw the home team bowled out for 141 with 3 balls to go

Matt Lewis (67) and James Weller (63) made light work as they scored the runs with no loss of wickets and 13 ½ overs to spare

Well done to all teams
