2s even the score


The 2nd XI even the scored has they won the second half of the double header against Leeds and Broomfield on Saturday

After being beaten away the previous week it was the 2s turn to entertain – The visitors were put into bat and wickets fell early. Alan Hampton (4 for 32) lead the attack supported by good bowling from Linc Bryden (4 for 18) and the rest of the bowling unit only 3 of the batting scored reached double figures.  The batting team was bowled out for 169 on the last ball of the innings.

The 2s got off to a good start with an excellent 2nd wicket partnership between Alan Hampton (49) and Rob Kennett (46) and at 100 for 2 looked favourites to win.  However a number of wickets fell and it took Linc Bryden (14 no) and Chris Knope (9 no) to cross the line with 4 balls and 3 wickets to spare


The 1st Xi started their campaign with a visit to Rainham. Batting first they got off to a good start with Ricky Dale notching up his first 50 of the season supported well by Tom Carey, Matt Lewis and Lee Taylor all scoring 20.  Unfortunately in a reduced over match including coming off 4 times during their innings they only reached 165 for 5 off their allotted overs.

Harry Mantle (2 for 32) picked up an early wicket the home team scored regularly and reached the total with six wickets and 21 balls to spare


The 3rd XI match against Holborough Anchorians was called off due to a flooded pitch


The Sunday Xi entertained Worth in their first game of the season – Deciding to bat Rob Kennett (22) and Matt Lewis (41) opened up with a opening stand of 69. Ricky Dale (71) applied the pressure with James Weller (23 no) and Tom Carey (27 no) putting on a 51 run stand as they reached 215 for 6 off their 40 overs


After tea debut captain Owen Harrison (2 for 20)  broke through early and good bowling from Will Cosstick (2 for 10)  supported by Steve Roberts, Tom Carey and Anthony Burbury all picking up 1 wicket the visitors fell 64 runs short reaching 151 for 7 off their allotted overs
