Four wins top off another successful season
The senior teams finished the season winning all of their matches at the weekend to cap a successful season where all teams finished 4th or higher in their respective leagues.
The 1s were at home to Leeds and Broomfield and were put into bat. An early wicket brough early pressure but James Weller (28) and Tom Carey (23) steadied the ship. Owen Harrison picked up 16 but it was a superb knock from Mike Willis (50 no) supported by James Sutton (16) that got the team to a respectable 188 for 7 in their 45 overs.
Owen Harrison (2 for 12) picked up early wickets but similar to the first inning Leeds and Broomfield settled in until a great spell from Kesha Rajadurai (9 overs 5 for 30) supported by Tom Carey (9 overs 0 for 27) broke the back of any resistance. Harry Mantle (1 over 1 for 1) removed the last piece of resistance and Tyle Wassell (1 for 24) returned to take the 9th wicket. Incredible captaincy saw birthday boy Chris Knope brought into the attack and after a number of unusual sighters picked up the final wicket sealing a 93 run win.
The team waited anxiously for the Street End result to see if they had been promoted but unfortunately Street End were victorious leaving the team in third place just 8points behind the promotion spot. A great season for the team.
The 2s having been in a tight relegation battle until the previous weeks results needed just three points to secure their position in the league. Away to Upchurch they were put into the field and Haris Khan (1 for 24) picked up an early wicket supported by Ethan Collier (0 for 27) but the change of bowling saw Lee Cogger removed the top and middle order with an impressive spell of 9 overs 5 for 15 supported by Henry Louden (5 overs 0 for 10). Amith Lokesh (2 for 21) and Adam Rayner (2 for 2) mopped up as the home team were bowled out for 101 at the end of the 35th over.
League status safe it was now about finishin gas hig as possible in a very tight division. An early wicket did not upset the result as Ben Wiebe-Williams (41 no) Will Cosstick (30) and Adam Rayner (29) saw the team home with 8 wickets and 27.2 overs to spare.
The win lifted the team to a very respectable 4th place in the league and a fantastic season after being promoted last year.
The 3s looked to consolidate their 4th position win a ninth win of the season as they travelled to Linton Park. Danish Zia (2 for 19) and Isaac Gregory-Bourne (2 for 11) put the pressure on from the outset. Joshua Rose bowled well going for just 11 runs off his 5 overs together with Aaryan Rajgor (9 overs 1 for 17). Ben Gregory-Bourne (1 for 5), Phil Danbury (1 for 8) and Simon Rose (1 for 3) also picked up a wicket each as the home team was kept to 76 for 9 off their 40 overs. Chis Wood (25) and Yuvraj Rajgor (32) got the team off to the perfect start with a 55 run opening partnership leaving William Roe (11 no) to see the team home as they crossed the line in 19.3 over and just 3 wickets down.
The team came a very comfortable 4th place their highest position since forming in 2010. Congratulation to the whole team for an outstanding year.
The Sunday team not looking to miss out on the the clubs winning form entertained Frindsbury and was put into the field. The visitors started extremely strongly beefore Adam Rayner (1 for 31) made the breakthrough. Ben Wiebe-Wiliams (2 for 17) picked up a brace as did Isaac Gregory-Bourne (2 for 28) with Aaryan Rajgor (1 for 22) picking up the other wicker as Frindsbury reached 188 for 7 off their 40 overs
Two early wickets put the team under pressure but a fine 78 from James Weller (who passed the 1000 run mark) and Tom Carey 61 did the damage leaving Adam Rayner (13) and Ethan Collier (12 no) to tidy up as the team wo by three wickets in the 38th over.
Congratulations to Ben in his first season as captain as the team came 2nd in the league
It has been a fantastic season for the Club and many thanks to the players, supporters and volunteers for making the 2026 season such an enjoyable one.
