Weather ruins chance of wins

bcc-bg1

Both the first and second teams missed out while in strong position to the weather this weekend.

The 1st XI team travelled to Betteshanger and on winning the toss elected to bat.   The team lost two early wickets but good knocks from Ricky Dale (40), Dylan Lee (20), Joe Mills (18) and Matt Lewis (13) got the team back in on keel and further good knocks from Tom Carey (29) and Michael Neame (31) meant the team reached a very respectable 173.

Betteshanger got off to a good start but Matt Roche 3 for 13 off 4 overs meant the home team were under pressure with just under hundred runs required.  Unfortunately the weather took over and meant the game was incomplete.

The 2nd XI suffered the same way – Mersham elected to bat at put on 208 for 6 off their allotted overs with the pick of the bowling coming from Harry Mantle 3 for 31 and James Weller 2 for 49

In reply the team had reached 66 for 1 off 11.2 overs including a fine opening innings from Steve Pumfrett (43 no) before once again the weather intervened and the match was abandoned

The threes travelled to top of the league Sheldwich who elected to bat and put on 304 for 7 in their allotted overs.  Ben Cooper bowled extremely well 3 for 35 off 10 overs as did Cameron Steven 2 for 46 off 8 overs

In reply the team struggled to 39 all out with only a fine knock from opener Ethan Collier (19) reaching double figures

The Sunday 1st XI entertained Stoney in Oxley who elected to bat. After a couple of early wickets the visitors piled on the runs and looked at one stage to be on for a 260+ total but with some good bowling from Tyler Wassell 3 for 51 and James Weller 3 for 32 combined with some good catching the team restricted them to 208 all out on the last ball of the innings

A reasonable start from James Sutton (16) and Tom Carey (34) followed by a fine knock from Ricky Dale (79) but unfortunately wickets fell round him and the team was 29 runs short at the end of the 40 overs.
