The twos had a convincing win at the weekend beating Sandwich by 10 wickets
The twos travelled to Sandwich and the home team won the toss and elected to bat. Bowling well as a unit only 4 of the opposition managed reach double figures with Owen Harrison picking up 4 for 35 supported well by Michael Neame (2 for 18), James Weller (2 for 24), Harry Mantle (1 for 17) and Tyler Wassell (1 for 35). Sandwich found themselves all out in the 46th over for 147.
Bapchild in reply batted superbly with openers Robert Kennett (45 no) and Thomas Carey, just missing out on his maiden century, scoring 92 not out as the team reached the total without losing a wicket and with 17 overs to spare.
The 1st XI was home to bottom of the league Offham and on winning the toss elect to bat. Two early wickets put the team under pressure but a fine knock from Adam Larking (69) and Matt Lewis (29) put the team back on track at 99 for 2. Unfortunately three quick turned the game again and despite Alan Hampton (28), Lee Taylor (15) and Joe Cooper (12) the team found themselves all out in the 49th over for 182.
An excellent start by the opening bowlers (Adam Rayner 2 for 35) and Alan Hampton (2 for 50) put the team in the driving seat with Offham 2 for 2 and shortly afterwards 23 for 3. Although wickets fell regularly the visitors held out crossing the line with 2 wickets to spare
The thirds entertained Holborough Anchorians at SCC on what turned out to be “lively” pitch. Wickets fell regularly with Ben Cooper (3 for 42), Ashley Bax (2 for 26), Cameron Stevens (2 for 12), Graeme Corner (2 for 35) and Jake Saye (1 for 15) picking up the wickets as the opposition was bowled out for 152 in the 40th over.
The pitch continued to play its part as the team was bowled out for 116 with the main runs coming from Tony Hadfield (26), Ethan Collier (20) and Grant Stevens (16)
