Bapchild Cricket Club

Our Junior Section

Bapchild Cricket Club welcomes all children aged from 6 – 18
to join us in learning and playing cricket.

OVERVIEW

The Club has a strong junior section with over 100 colts boys and girls enjoying to play cricket in a friendly and safe environment.   We run 5 age groups U7, U9, U11, U13 and U16 and play competitive league cricket for all age group except the U7s.   The section is run by our Colts Manager Richard Archbold who with his Lead Coaches and a team of 1 ECB Level 3 and over 20 ECB Level 2 qualified coaches ensure that the boys and girls receive the best training in order to maximise their enjoyment of the game.

The Junior Section is extremely important to our club and much of our funding goes to providing equipment and investing in training coaches and young leaders.   Many of our former colts now play in the senior teams and are indeed coaches for the section.   In the region of 80% of players representing the club at senior level are either former colts, coaches, parents of colts or they are still colts!.  In 2011 we started a Saturday 3rd XI to ensure as our colts became too old to play in the Swale Development League they had opportunity to still play cricket.

In 2012, for the first time in the club’s history, we able to field an all girls team, the Butterflies, in a tournament and they entered the U9 league the following season.

Many of our colts represent the District at U10, U12 and U14 age groups and some of our coaches manage those sides

Every coach is a volunteer and we are very lucky that they give up their time to pass on their skills to the next generation of crickets

CLUBMARK & FOCUS CLUB ACCREDITED

We received the ECB Clubmark accreditation in 2010 which means the Club operates to a key set of core criteria and has in place good practice to ensure that we can deliver high quality community cricket in an environment that is safe, effective and child friendly.  The Club is regular assessed with the latest taking place in 2013 and we have been re-accredited for a further 3 years

In 2011 we received ECB Focus Club accreditation, which is a geographic collaboration between the Focus Club (cricket club) and partnership schools/colleges, local community groups, businesses and sponsors.  It again reaffirms we are committed to the delivery of junior development programmes and/or activities in partnership with ECB, the County Cricket Board, schools and the community through a Club Development Plan that has been approved by the County Cricket Board and is reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
