Management Committee Directive 2026
Cricket Teas
This KCL Management Committee Directive is in addition to the League Constitution and the
Playing Conditions for season 2026.
CRICKET TEAS
Tier 1A
Premier League
Mandatory provision of Cricket Teas for players and match-day officials.
Championship & Division 1
Mandatory provision of Cricket Teas for ALL match-day officials (umpires and scorers).
All Other Tiers
There is no obligation for a Home Club to provide a cricket tea for any KCL fixture to be
played in season 2026, with the exception of Tier 1A, detailed as above.
Players and Officials should continue to provide their own refreshments, unless otherwise
advised.
If a Home Club wishes to provide a formal cricket tea then this is to be organised as a
“Private Agreement” between the Home Club and the Away Club (Visitors) to put into
practice accordingly.
The onus is on the Home Club to notify and obtain the relevant confirmation in advance of
the fixture. Specific arrangements for ‘match day’ facilities and suitable payment for teas
should also be agreed at this time.
To provide additional support, details of “Cricket Teas” have been added to the KCL
Handbook for each Club entry to provide clarity and assistance. Clubs should communicate
in advance of the fixture to eliminate any doubt or confusion.
ECB Guidance
Where you cannot ensure that all the requirements of law and this guidance cannot be met,
you should not serve teas. You should only serve teas when and where it is safe to do so – it
will require time to complete the necessary preparations and venues should only do this at
their pace. You should communicate clearly with your players and visiting teams about whether you are
providing a tea. Players and match officials should continue to bring their own food and
drink where teas are not provided, or where the player/match official does not wish to be
served tea.
