Ones and Twos return to winning ways

bcc-bg1

Both the first and second team returned to winning ways this weekend.

The 1st XI travelled to Faversham and on losing the toss took to the field and were soon amongst the wickets with an excellent open spell from Alan Hampton (3 for 37) and Adam Rayner (1 for 21) who removed the top order.  Matt Roche followed on the good work picking up 3 wickets for 40 runs and Ricky Dale finished off Faversham with a fine 3 for 24 .  An excellent team performance in the field paid had dividends leaving Faversham all out for 139 in the 49th over.

A couple of wickets fell early in Bapchild’s reply but excellent knocks from Adam Larking (53) and Dylan Lee (53 no) meant the team picked up their first ever Division 4 win with a 7 wicket victory in the 29th over.

The 2nd XI were at home to Deal Victoria and the opposition won the toss and elected to bat.  James Sutton (29) and Steve Pumfrett (14) got the team off to a good start.  Glenn Kennett played a excellent innings while carrying a calf injury early in his innings but went on to score his first 50 of the campaign. Initially supported by Nick Page who got an unplayable “popping” ball :)  but James Elkin rose to the occasion putting on 42 and helping the team reach 183 for 8 in their allotted overs.

Deal Victoria started strong but a good opening spell from Owen Harrison and Harry Mantle (0 for 17 off 7 overs) kept the pressure and excellent change of bowling from Michael Neame (3 for 42) and Nick Page (3 for 22) ripped through the oppositions batting line up.  Owen Harrison returned to attack and mopped up taking the final 3 wickets (3 for 22)  leaving Deal all out for 136 in the 39th over

The 3rd XI did not fair as well travelling to Higham & Mockbeggar.  Electing to bat unfortunately only Kevin Coles (15) and Jake Saye (15) and the famous E(ddie) XTRAS (33) managed to reach double figures with the team finding themselves all out for 82 in the 36th over.

Ben Cooper (2 for 20) picked up two wickets in reply but Higham reached the target in the 13th over

The Sunday 1st XI travelled to Selsted who elected to bat whose opener came out aggressively scoring 82 of the 100 scored before the first wicket fell.  However an excellent spell from Tyler Wassell 5 for 27 supported by Matt Roche (2 for 26) and Harry Mantle (2 for 15) meant the home team lost 8 wickets for 26 runs.  Selsted tail waggled and they reached 180 for 9 in 37 overs.

James Sutton opened the batting and scored a excellent 51 supported by Ricky Dale (47), Nick Page (20) and Brian Carey (25) meant the team crossed the line to win by 5 wickets in the 32 over.

They now sit 3rd in the league just one point off the top slot
