Bapchild’s Broncos and Bees battle it out
And so it proved to be on a lovely warm evening at Radfield Hill last Thursday when our two under 11 teams met in their league.
Bee’s skipper Jake Connolly won the toss and invited Broncos skipper Ben Dutnall to bat first.
After a steady start Christian Roberts smashed a quick fire 27 supported by Kyle Coles. Alex Lynch (20) continued to score backed by Finlay Carter (15) and Ben Dutnall (15 each) as the Broncos passed a total of 300 runs in their 16 overs.
Some good bowling displays especially by the girls Freya Bartlett, Emily Deeson and Katie Stringer and were backed up by young Zak Lewis who was superb.
The Bees knew the total was vast but they all batted sensibly and correctly, hitting boundaries on a regular basis but also losing wickets regularly while trying to reach the target.
Katie Stringer’s cut through point for 4, Jake Connolly’s pull shot for 4 through square and Freya Bartlett’s exquisite cover drive through the covers for 4 were the highlight of their innings but the Broncos bowled too well on the night
A great evening was had by all with the winner on the night being Bapchild Cricket Club for putting out two very good cricket sides who played their part in a very enjoyable game of cricket.
