U12s enjoy single wicket comp
On Thursday 17th August with all leagues games now completed it was decided to run a single wicket competition for all those colts who were not away on holiday.
Nine under 12s turned up to compete in what was to be a most enjoyable evening of cricket.
Every player started with 50 runs, batted for 3 overs and lost 5 runs for losing a wicket.
Front runner to top score was Ethyn Carollo who hit some lusty blows to all parts of the ground to reach a total of 72 and but for a superb caught and bowled by Max Whitethread and a brilliant run out by Emily Surridge it would have been more.
Emily Surridge batted well nudging twos and hitting the odd boundary to reach a total of 74 and take the lead only getting out once to a good catch by Winston Roe at square leg.
Sophie Hogben was last to bat and set about the target from the off by knocking 10 runs off her first over from her brother Patrick and ended up with a score of 77 to win on the night.
Well done to all who took part and a special thanks goes to Matt, Martin and Lorraine without whose help on the night the game would not have taken place.
