1s come out on top in low scoring game

bcc-bg2

The 1s were at home to Sibton Park on Saturday and was put into bat by the visitors.   The 1s found themsleves 20 for 4 but Captain Matt Lewis (20) and Nick Page (14) looked to steady the ship but with the score on 52 Nick’s wicket fell and with Matt and Tom Gunner also going for only 2 more runs it looked like they team would be out from less than 60. Adam Rayner (15) and Daniel Gunner (14) put on a valuable 30 run partnership for the 8th wicket before the 1s found themselves all out for 86 in the 29th over.

Adam Rayner (1 for 15) and Tom Gunner (1 for 13) picked up early wickets but at 40 for 2 Sibton looked like they would cruise past total however a fine spell of bowling from Harry Mantle (4 for 18) and Kesha Rajadurai (3 for 21)  ripped through the Sibton defences and with Tom Carey (1 for 1)  joining the attack and claiming the 9th wicket it took just three balls from Harry on his return to claim the win as the opposition lost their last 8 wickets for just 30 runs as they were bowled out for 70 in the 26th Over

A great win which ensures the team of at least 4th place in the League this season

The 2s travelled over to Sheppey and elected to field.    Sheppey found themselves 37 for 3 after opening bowler Lee Cogger picked up all three (3 for 25). However a 72 run partnership settled the home team until finally the breakthrough came from Captain William Cosstick (1 for 58).  Wickets also came from William Surridge (1 for 27) and an unusual source of John Heatley (2 for 17). Ethan Collier returned to the attack picking up a brace (2 for 18) as Sheppey reached 179 for 9 off their 40 overs.

After tea the 2s found themselves in a similar position at 33 for 3 but unfortunately no partnership could be formed as wickets fell regularly and the team found themselves all out for 105 in the 36th over.  Tony Hadfield top scoring with 23.
