Bapchild Cricket Club

The Bees Knees

U12 Bees v Sheppey - May 2022

On a cool but dry evening at Eastchurch  the Bapchild Bees had their first game of the season against Sheppey Cricket Club.  Emily Surridge [Bees Captain] won the toss and invited Sheppey to bat first .

With only 6 players available on the night Sheppey were kind enough to lend Bapchild a couple of fielders which was a lovely gesture on their part to even the sides up to 8 a side.

Harry Thomas and Masha Dillendorf both playing their first hardball games bowled superbly each taking wickets in their bowling spells.    Emily Cowan and Oliver Richardson then bowled a good accurate line putting pressure on the Sheppey batsmen with Henry Hinde the last Bees’ with a  superb 3 over spell bowling pace uphill.

There was some excellent fielding on the Bees part and great keeping from skipper Emily including 4 stumpings  !! Sheppey was kept to 242 as the Bees took 10 valuable wickets

Emily Surridge opened the batting with Masha Dillendorf and took the game to Sheppey from the off, pinching quick singles and smacking the odd boundary in a great opening stance.

Harry Thomas and Emily Cowan steadied the ship batting sensibly in their 4 over spell and grabbing singles where they could.

This was followed up by Oliver Richardson who smacked 2 glorious drives through mid-off in his knock and was ably backed up by Henry Hinde who was a good partner to Ollie.

Girls Emily and Masha then came back in to bat again and played a sensible innings to see the Bees over the line and win the game in the end by 30 runs.

A great team effort in their first game of the season where the Bapchild team were definitely the Bees Knees !!
