All three Saturday senior teams started their League campaigns last weekend

In a double header the 1st team traveled to Downham and Bellingham for their second league match.

Having elected to bowl on a very damp pitch the opposition reached 233 for 9 off their allotted 50 overs with Tom Carey taking an impressive 5 for 51 with Will Cosstick 2 for 36, Tyler Wassell 1 for 15 and Ricky Dale 1 for 46 all picking up wickets.  In reply Bapchild were in a strong position, especially after losing an early wicket, with Matt Lewis coming just short of a half century (46) and Ricky Dale (56) but only Cameron Archbold (35) and Chris Hogg (12) reached double figures after that and the team themselves all out for 189 in the 47th over.

At home the 2nd XI entertained Downham and Bellinghams 2nd XI.   This time the opposition elected to field and captain James Sutton batted the full 45 overs to score an unbeaten 84 while being supported by Heatley (22), Daniel Covey (17) and Joe Mills (14) as the team reached 194 for 6.

Downham got off to a strong start before the the partnership was broken by a run out.  Joe Mill (1 fo 30) and Anthony Burbury both picked up caught and bowled before Daniel Covey (1 for 33) dismissed the opener.  Adam Rayner (3 for 34) and Archie Covey (1 for 24) removed the middle order as the visitors found themselves struggling at 120 for 8 .   Unfortunately the tail-end stubbornly held on and they crossed over the line with just one wicket and 7.2 overs to spare

The 3rd XI were at home to a strong Gravesend team.   Put into bat wickets fell regularly against a good bowling attack as the team found themselves all out for 107 in the 26th over.  Steve Botting (21), Lincoln Bryden (19), Tom Gunner (18) and debutant Chris Wood (16) making double figures

The visitors also had a strong batting side as they crossed the line losing no wickets in the 21st over.   It was good to see Ella Hadler (0 for 29) Tom Gunner (0 for 16) being supported by debutants at senior level Dhylan Smith (0 for 24), Caleb Deveson (0 for 26) and William Surridge (0 for 6).

The Sunday XI’s match was moved to a few week time due to a clash of fixtures for the opposition
