The Sunday XI lost by just three runs in their penultimate Kent Village League game of the season. On Saturday the only winner was the weather as torrential rain saw both the 1st XI and 2nd XI games being cancelled. The 3rd XI didn’t have a game scheduled this week.
The Sunday XI travelled to the lovely village of Wye and decided to field. Ethan Collier (9 overs 2 for 17) bowled well picking up early wickets with William Cosstick (6 overs 0 for 27) also bowling well. The home team fought back and it took Captain Tom Carey (9 overs 3 for 20) to break the partnership. Tom was supported by unlikely replacement bowler James Sutton who stepped in after Toby Heather was injured. Will Surridge (1 for 38) picked up the opener who was on 84 and Ella Hadler (5 overs 2 for 24) picked up a brace as Wye reached 180 for 7 in their 40 overs.
Tom Carey (79) and James Weller (19) got the team off to a good start in reply supported well by Yurvaj Rajgor (34) but unfortunately came up 3 runs short at the end of their allotted overs finishing on 177 for 7.
