Broncos v Parents August 2024

With the Bronco’s finishing runners up in the league and all fixtures completed it was decided to run an end of season match against the parents as a nice way of finishing the season.

Paul Surridge was elected Parents captain because he had whites and looked the part !!   and so Emily Surridge became Broncos captain to match.
Paul won the toss and invited the Broncos to bat first
Rules were parents bowled to their child and each Bronco bowled to their parents with under 12 start at 200 runs and applying the loss of 5 runs for any wickets taken.
With lots of fun along the way and some decent cricket in between the Bapchild Broncos ended up on 275 for the loss of 4 wickets at close of their innings
Biggest grin of the night came from Tony Carollo who almost ploughed through stumps and young Joshua Rose to take a decent catch off his own bowling to dismiss his son Jaiden!!
Dad’s team got off to a good start with Paul and Tony batting well.  But superb bowling by Noah Jones to dismiss his dad Phil twice and then Bronco’s Issac Gregory Bourne upending his dad’s middle stump first ball brought the Broncos back into contention.
At 278 for 6 and one over to go it was left to Lucy Louden to defend and survive from Anjali Smith which she managed to do on one leg due to a previous injury and thus winning the game for the Parents by the smallest of margins of just 3 runs
Thanks to all those who supported and took part on the night to make it such an enjoyable evening.
