Matt Gets His Maiden Century

Matt Lewis scored his maiden century on Sunday against Woodchurch CC but unfortunately was still on the losing side after a nail-biting game. Visitors Woodchurch elected to bat and Owen Harrison (2 for 40) was quickly in the wickets, However a stand of 137 meant that a target of 216 was set at the end of the allotted 40 overs.

Matt Lewis on form after his 43 the previous week opened the batting and supported by James Weller (30) looked in fine form. A good stand of 82 in the middle looked like the team would cruise home but 4 wickets for just 3 runs meant the team fell short of the target by just one run.

The 1st XI travelled to Bettshanger and was put into the field. Both Harry Mantle (2 for 28) and Owen Harrison (1 for 33) bowled well picking up 3 early wickets. A good stand from the middle order meant the team was set 215 as the home team finished their innings 6 wickets down

Cameron Archbold (45) refreshed by his non-alcoholic beer the week before and Matt Lewis (43) looked in command from the outset and after a small wobble t took Callum Leary (58) supported by Adam Watson (11) Chris Hogg (15) and Owen Harrison (12 no) to see the team home with 3 wickets and 16 balls to spare

The 2nd XI travelled to Tonbridge and was put into bat. An early wicket did not put off captain for the day Robert Kennett who scored an excellent 71 and supported by Steve Pumfrett (34), Joe Mills (30) and James Weller (27) saw the team reach 244 for 8 off their 46 overs

Ethan Collier (2 for 30) picked up the opener on the first ball of the Tonbridge innings and between Ethan and William Cosstick (1 for 22) who bowled extremely well upfront and Steve Pumfrett (3 for 9) supported by Daniel Gunner (1 for 10), Joe Mills (2 for 21), James Weller (1 for 34) the 2nd XI comfortably won by 96 runs in the 38th over.

The 3rd XI unfortunately had to concede their game against Rodmersham.
