Yuvraj’s half century and Steve Robert’s second five wicket haul of the season helped the 2s win their 5th game of the season and climb into 2nd place in the league.
Away to Cobham the 2s elected to field first and the home team started well until a change of bowling saw Steve Roberts remove the two openers with Ben Wiebe-Williams (1 for 44) chipping in from the other end. Stand in captain Alan Hampton slowed the opposition down by taking wickets and giving no runs away ending his 9 over spell 3 for 10 with Steve returning from the other end two pick three further wickets and finishing on 5 for 34 as Cobham were bowled out on the last ball of the match for 162.
Openers Yuvraj (60) and Paul Surridge (40) created the perfect platform after the break and with Chris Hogg 19 not out at the end the team crossed the line in the 35th over for the loss of just 4 wickets.
The 1s were at home to top of the league Borstal and were put into the field. A strong batting line-up saw the visitors reach 245 for 4 with pick of the bowling coming from Harry Mantle who took 3 wickets for 54.
Wickets fell regularly after tea as the 1s found themselves all out for 124 at the end of the 37 over. Matt Lewis top scoring with 43
The 3s entertained promotion chasing Minster who elected to bat first early wickets from Lincoln Bryden (2 for 32) put on early pressure and Glenn Kennett (2 for 28) and Aaryan Rajgor (2 for 22) also picked up wickets as Minster reached 195 for 6 in their allotted 40 overs.
Bowling was tight and no batsman was able to kick on but runs from Aaryan (21), Tony Hadfield (28), Glenn (28 no) and Linc (34 no) reach 139 for 4 at the close of play.
