Tom Carey and James Weller both scored centuries in the Sunday XIs 236 run win over Tyler Hill CC this week .
A weakened opposition the team decided to bat and the openers put on an impressive 280 run opening stand with Tom scoring 158 and James 128 not out as the team reached 315 for 1 in their allotted 40 overs
Haris Khan (2 for 12) removed the openers after the break and ably supported Ethan Collier (0 for 29). A change of bowling saw Ben Wiebe-Williams bowl an impressive 6 overs 5 maidens 2 for 2 and with Amith Lokesh at the other end taking 1 for 13. Ella Hadler picked up two (2 for 9) and Aaryan Rajgor (2 for 2) picked up the final two wickets in just an 11 ball spell as the visitors found themselves all out for 79 in the 31st over.
The Saturday teams didn’t fair as well.
The 1st XI were at home to Kings Hill 2nd XI and the team put the opposition into bat. Haris Khan (2 for 17) picked up earlier wickets supported well by Tyler Wassell (8 overs for 25). Tom Carey 2 for 25 also made a breakthrough but King Hill’s middle order stubbornly stuck around until Joe Mills (2 for 32) and Harry Mantle (1 for 51) removed the two danger men. The batting remained stubbon reaching 207 for 7 off their 45 overs
After the break the bowling was tight and no two batsman were able to put on similar partnerships as the opposition. James Weller (44) James Sutton (27) and Ricky Dale (31 no) all batted well but the team were 32 runs short at the end of the match scoring 175 for 7 in their return.
The 2s travelled to Snodland and were put into bat. Early wickets put the team under pressure but 44 for Alan Hampton, Amith Lokesh (25), Adam Rayner (32 no) and Chris Hogg (17) looked like the team may set a good score but the tail end wasn’t given the chance to waggle and the team reached 161 for 9 off their allotted overs.
Snodland started well but Ethan Coliier (2 for 25) and Ben Wiebe-Williams (1 for 31) took the opposition from 0 for 30 to 3 for 48. Alan Hampton (1 for 32) and Lee Cogger (1 for 33) bowled well but the opposition managed to cross the line with 5 wicket and 4 overs to spare
The 3s were had home to Bredgar and were also put into bat by the opposition on an lively wickets. Opener Brian Carey “wore a few” before succumbing. Will Surridge (16) Chris Wood (19) Aaryan Rajgor (11) batted well in difficult conditions however wickets continued to fall. Dan Covey’s excellent 33 no supported by Nilesh Rajgor at the end saw team reach 126 for 9 off their 40 overs.
Ella Hadler and The Chairman (9 overs for 17) kept it tight from the start and two wickets from Dan Covey (2 for 26) put the team in good stead as Bredger found themselves 32 for 2. But again stubbon batting stopped the result from going the teams way as the target was reached with just four overs to go.
The U12s won their first game of the season.
Unfortunately the U14s and U16s had to concede due to availability issues.
