Thirds finally play at Radfield Hill

The start of August saw the Thirds play at Radfield Hill for the first time in their 4 year history.  More details of the game later

The first team travelled to Chislehurst that is always a competitive and tough game. Winning the toss Bapchild looking for a full 20 pts elected to bat which proved to a great decision.   Adam Larking supported by Joshua Hunt got the team off to a fantastic start before Adam fell to a catch behind while on 78.  Josh continued to play the anchor role that has been missing this season scoring a fine 62 off 42 overs.  A good knock from Matthew Roche (37) saw Bapchild through an excellent score or 244 all out in the 50th over.

A good opening spell from Josh and Adam Rayner  meant the pressure built early on for Chislehurst.  This was only compounded further with Tyler Wassell (3 for 42) replacing Josh a removing the two opening bats immediately.  Rick Dale (3 for 17) and Matthew Roche (2 for 17) also continued the fine bowling performance, topped off by two run outs meant the team walked away with a 102 run victory and 20 valuable points

The twos game was conceded by the opposition which left the Thirds to play their first ever game on the hallowed turf of Radfield Hill.  Playing Yalding for the first time spirits were high especially after the opposition turned up with just 9 men.  However, Yalding’s opening pair did the damage early on and despite Jamie Blackbrows 5 for 45, the visitors managed 213 before being dismissed.

Bapchild put on an excellent case lead by Tom Carey (40) and Steve Hogg (41 no) but found themselves 28 short with one wicket standing at the end of their allotted overs……… but they had played “at home”
