Bapchild Cricket Club

First Team Win Again

The first team entertained 2nd in the league Bexleyheath at the weekend.

Again winning the toss Bapchild elected to bat.  A good start again by Adam Larking (24) and Joshua Hunt (47) supported by number 3 Dylan Lee (30) put the team on a good platform to kick on.  Unfortunately they were unable to capitalise as wickets fell regularly with the team reaching 170 before being bowled out in the 49th over.

A pacey opening spell by Josh (6 overs for 3 runs) supported by Adam Rayner (1 for 22) meant once again the opposition suffered early pressure allowing Tyler Wassell (3 for 12) to take advantage.  Ricky Dale (4 for 31) and Matthew Roche (2 for 42) once again played their part in the bowling attack and Bexleyheath found themselve all out for 114 runs in the 43rd over

The two’s travelled to Mersham Sports and found themselves put into bat on a very slow pitch – Simon Harrison (28) and Jamie Blackbrow (21) faired the best but the team found themselves all out for 139 in the last over of the innings

Mersham got off to a reasonable start scoring 35 before losing their first wicket but 3 more wickets fell for just 16 runs putting the home team under pressure.  Mersham rallied for a while but veteran Glenn Kennett’s 12 overs 5 for 23 sealed the win as the home team only reached 115 runs for 9 in their allotted overs.

The thirds played Gore Court which is always a tough game and proved no different as the home team racked up 270 for 8 in their allotted overs.  Pick of the bowlers were Sam Hewitt (3 for 57), Mr Brian Carey (2 for 3) and it was great to see two of our 13 year old colts taking their first wickets for the club, Drew Gavin (1 for 30) getting the opening bat LBW and Ethan Collier (1 for 17) who can thank his Dad for catching the ball.

Bapchild struggled against Gore Court’s bowling attack with only Paul Gilbert (25) and Ethan (19) reaching double figures as Bapchild found themselves back in the pavilion for just 81 runs.

The Sunday 1st team lost out to the weather in the their game against top of the league Meopham.
