Teams wilt in Hot Weather

All teams wilted as the temperature hit 33 degrees at the weekend

The 1st XI entertained Old Colfeians who won the toss and elected to bat.  Starting strongly they scored 70 off the first 10 overs despite two early wickets from Owen Harrison (2 for 23).  Despite the heat Ricky Dale (1 for 24), William Cosstick (2 for 29) and Tom Carey (1-20) stuck to their job and bowled well all picking up one wicket each.  Tyler Wassell (3 for 32) mopped up the tail supported by James Longhurst (1 for 5) as the team pulled it right back and bowled the opposition out for 179 in the 45th over

Wickets fell early after tea placing the team under pressure however the lower half rallied James Longhurst (24) Lincoln Bryden (17) Will Cosstick (37) and Owen Harrison (25) almost pulled a win but the team fell 19 runs short

The 2XI went to second in the table Cowdrey and were also put into the field on a very hot afternoon.  The oppositions put on the runs despite good efforts from the bowling attack reaching 215 for 7 of their 46 overs. Pick of the bowling (Lee Cogger 3 for 50, Jake Mitchell 2 for 24, Alan Hampton 10 overs for 23)

Adam Larking (31) got the team off to a good start and was supported by Alan Hampton (41) but unfortunately wickets fell regularly and despite James Weller’s half century the team came up 33 runs short.

The 3rd XI, playing at home to Rumwood, came across two ex KCL Division 2 brother who scored 186 and 106 before Anthony Burbury picked up a caught and bowled off the top scorer leaving the team chasing 320 in 46 overs.

The team made 130 in reply with Daniel Gunner top score with 34.
