Sunday Team in Last Ball Thriller

Bapchild Sunday XI was in a last ball thriller against Street End at the weekend winning by just one run

Put in by the visitors the father and son combination of Simon and Will Cosstick opened the batting.  Dad (6) was put into the shade as Will (55) hit his second half century of the year putting on a 2nd wicket stand of 71 with Ricky Dale (52).  James Sutton (40) and Owen Harrison (20) also chipped as the team reached 237 for 8 off their 40 overs.

Street End start extremely well before the first wicket fell at 93 when Tom Carey (1 for 55) made the break through. Owen Harrison (3 for 39), Ella Hadler (2 for 47) and Daniel Gunner (1 for 33) all picked up wickets. It all went down to the last over and the last ball as Street End came up 0ne run short as they reached 237 for 8 in their allotted overs. (more details on the game to follow)

The 1st XI entertained Addington on Saturday on an extremely damp and windy day.  Bapchild elected to bat and built a strong platform on 82 for 2.  However, wickets fell regularly as 4 wickets fell over 10 overs for just 8 runs.  Will Cosstick (20) put on a cameo role at the end but the team found themselves all out for 141 in the 41st over.

Captain Ricky Dale (4 for 32) was supported well by the rest of the bowling attack and took the opposition to the wire but they were really 20 runs short as the visitors crossed the line with 3 wickets and 8 balls to spare

The 3rd XI were at home to Unchurch who decided to bat – the team bowled well restricting the visitors to 183 for 4 in their 40 overs.  Pick of the bowling Ian Hird (2 for 16) and Daniel Gunner (2 for 40).

After tea Nathan (67) played the lead role batting but wickets fell regularly as the team came just 23 runs short after being bowled out for 160

The 2nd XI did not have a game this weekend
