Ones open league season with a win

The 1st team opened the league season on Saturday with a low scoring win against Bexley 3rd XI.

The team hosted the game and put the visitors into bat on a weather reduced match. Owen Harrison and Tyler Wassell opened the bowling with Tyler (1 for 6) picking up an early wicket.  Ricky Dale (1 for 18) dismissed the other opener after a change of bowling. League debutant Kesha Rajadurai bowled superbly up hill into the wind taking 4 wickets for just 5 runs in his 7 overs (including going for 3 off his first ball) .  Will Cosstick (0 for 25) and Thomas Carey (1 for 19) closed the innings as Bexley reached 109 for 8 off their allotted 35 overs.

Bapchild appeared to be cruising to victory as openers Matt Lewis (20) and James Weller (36) built a solid platform but some fine bowling from the young talented Bexley side saw seven wickets fall before Kesha and Will got them over the line with three wickets and 4.1 overs to spare.

The second XI in a double header and traveled to play Bexley 4th XI. Put into bat the team lost an early wickets but Alan Hampton (36),  Nick Page (55) and Linc Bryden (14) built a good platform but unfortunately the team could not capitalise as they were bowled out for 152 in 39 overs

The team got off to a great start with the home team finding themselves 32 for 5 with some excellent bowling from Jake Mitchell (2 for 15), Ben Wiebe-Williams (2 for 26), Alan Hampton (1 for 45) and returning master of swing Alex Ward (3 for 27). However, dropped catches of the two leading scorers for the home team cost Bapchild dearly as Bexley crossed the line with 2 wickets and 2.5 overs to spare
