Two tons weekend

bcc-bg1

Congratulations to Joe Mills and Ricky Dale (talk about buses turning up!) who both chalked up centuries this weekend

The 1st XI travelled to Westgate and on winning the toss elected to bat. Unfortunately early wickets put pressure on the team until Joe Mills stepped up, supported by Ricky Dale (35), to score a well earned century. Joe got out shortly afterwards and apart from Alan Hampton (18) the remaining batman failed to get going and the team were all out in the 44th over for 203.

Westgate openers put on a good opening stand and only with the introduction of James Weller (4 for 55) did wickets start to fall but unfortunately Westgate reached their target with 5 overs and 5 wickets to spare

The 2nd XI were at home to Westgate’s 2nd team who on winning the toss elected to bat.  The visitors top order bat well and while wickets fell towards the end of the innings Westgate put up a competitive score of 235 for 7 in their allowed 46 overs.  Pick of the bowling going to Graeme Corner (3 for 46), Michael Willis (2 for 30) and Matt Lewis (2 for 63).

Bapchild got of to a good start with openers James Sutton (15) and Steve Pumfrett (41) putting a good base.  Three wickets put the pressure back on but a mature and excellent knock from Captain Nick Page (79) supported by Tony Hadfield (21) and Simon Harrison (38) saw the home team reach the target with 15 balls and 4 wickets to spare.

The 3rd XI were at home to Rainham and on winning the toss elected to field.  A good opening stand by their openers was undone by a good bowling spell from Drew Gavin who picked up 4 wickets for 18 runs.  Remaining wickets were shared and the opposition were 188 for 9 at the end of their allotted overs.

Return of the Glazier didn’t last long as he was run out on the first ball of the over.  Simon Cosstick came to the crease and scored an excellent 70 and putting the team in a great position to win.  Unfortunately wickets fell regularly but good knocks from Drew Gavin (25) and Drew Gavin (21) edged the team closer but unfortunately the team fell just 11 runs short being bowled out in the 35th over for 177

The Sunday XI played Ash at home and were put into to bat by the opposition.  James Sutton (15) opened with Steve Roberts, playing his first game due to injury but struggled to find form.  In form captain Ricky Dale having enjoyed his maiden century the week before doubled his Ton tally with a superb 130.  Supported by Nick Page 29 and the rest of the team the score had reached 222 for 8 off the allotted 40 overs.

Ash got off to a good start but it took the skipper to return with 4 for 27 to break through.  Supported by Tyler Wassell (2 for 55) and Steve Roberts (2 for 21) meant the visitors found themselves all out for 194 with just 4 balls in the innings remaining.
