Bapchild Colts XI who played a touring team – July 2018

The annual tour match took place on Tuesday 31st July at Radfield Hill when David Goodchild arrived with his young group of cricketers.

After heavy rain early doors it was decided to play two games of 20/20 cricket as in previous years as the format work well.

Bapchild batted first in the opening match setting the tourists 112 to win with some excellent batting from Darcy Carter and Jake Connolly both having to retire on 25.   They were backed up by Will Foster and Ollie Julier to reach the total/

But the tourists batted very sensibly and reached the target with 4 overs to spare with some excellent batting so game one was done and dusted.

Game two saw the tourists bat first and Bapchild bowled and fielded well restricting the side to 112 for 5.

Boosted by Fergie Conway and Simeon Laslett now in their ranks who had missed the first game Bapchild got off to a flying start. Both Simeon and Fergie retired on 25 and it was Daisy Conway and Tom Flanagan who put bat to ball to try and overcome the total but ended up 7 runs short at the close of play.

An excellent days cricket enjoyed by colts and parents alike – well done to all involved and we look forward to next year when we can hopefully can exact our revenge !!
