Matt Gets Second Ton


Matt Lewis scored his second century of the season at the weekend

The 1st team were at home against Faversham. While wickets regular fell opener Matt stayed held his end up for the whole of the 50 overs scoring 107 not out as the team reached 254 for 9 with the main support come from Extras (59).

After tea Owen Harrison (1 for 46) and Harry Mantle (2 for 41) took early wickets however Faversham had their own Matt equivalent who looked to take the game away but Alan Larking (3 for 11) finished the visitors off as they came up 21 runs short

The 2nd XI unfortunately had their game cancelled due to the weather

The 3XI travelled to Minster  and were put into bat.  Nathan Glazier (81) and Brian Carey (24) got the team off to a good start and with support from Chris Hogg (25), Ashley Hooker (23 no) and Daniel Gunner (21) meant the team reached 239 for 6 in their allotted 40 overs

After tea the home teams top order made a stand but once removed by Daniel Gunner (2 for 10) and Oscar Hird (1 for 27) it took two triple wicket maidens by Brian Carey (3 for 18) and Ian Oscar (3 for 4) and a run out from Guy Wakefield to bowl Minster out for 108 in the 30th over

The Sunday XI entertained Borstal who elected to bat. Opening bowlers Owen Harrison (4 for 23) and Adam Rayner (3 for 20) were in the wickets from the start removing the top order and after mid-order stand James Weller (3 for 17) finished off the visitors as they were all out for 178 in the 40th over.

Openers Rob Kennett (39) and Tom Carey (71) and Ricky Dale (50 no) crossed the line in the 36th over for the loss of just two wickets
