Matt and Ricky’s half century chase down another win


Half centuries from Matt Lewis and Ricky Dale help the 1st team chase down 213 against Ash CC  to remain undefeated this season.

The 1s travelled to Ash and were asked to field.  The home team got off to a good start until Harry Mantle made the break through (3 for 34). Harry continued to pick up wickets supported by Tom Carey (3 for 58) and Ricky Dale (2 for 35) and two run outs saw Ash all out for 213 in the final over of the innings.

An excellent start from openers Matt Lewis (60) and James Weller (34) was carried on by Ricky Dale (58 not out) as the team crossed the line  comfortably with 5 wickets 23 balls to spare.


The twos entertained Rainham who decided to bat.  One batsman made the difference as Rainham scored 207 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.  Pick of the bowling was Adam Rayner (2 for 25), Freddie Corner (2 for 28), Lee Cogger  (2 for 32) and Jake Mitchell (2 for 40) all picking up a brace of wickets each.

Wickets fell regularly after tea with Rob Kennett (29) being top score.  Although the game was gone the team dug in and picked up two valuable batting points as they reached 153 for 9 off their allotted overs.


The third XI entertained Sherwood who decided to field. Opener Brian Carey scored a solid 24 as wickets fell around him.  Captain Simon Cosstick scored a valuable 40 as the team reached 137 for 8 in their 40 over allocation.

Sherwood batted well scoring 68 before losing their first wicket to Toby Heather.   Toby went on to take 4 for 47 but it wasn’t enough as Sherwood crossed the line with 5 wickets and 18 overs to spare.


The Sunday XI had a friendly with Rolvenden and decided to bat.  Tom Carey scored a fine 100 (retired) supported by Jacob Carter (22) and Owen Harrison (58) as the team reached 253 for 7 off their 40 overs

Rolvenden got off before Ollie Julier picked up 3 for 16.  Wickets continued to fall as Rolvenden were bowled out for  158 in the 39th over.
