Magnificent 7

Bapchild All Girls Team v St Lawrence and Harland Court girls - May 2022
The Club has entered an all girls team into an 80 ball competition which is played over 3 Sundays in May, June and July with the winning team going on to represent the area
The first of the matches were played at the weekend against a strong St Lawerence and Highland Court team that had three county players and were a year or so older.
Reduced to 7 players on the day due to illness the team was undeterred.   Facing some strong bowling the team gallantly made 57 for 8 off their 80 balls.  In the Spirit of Cricket St Lawerence lent the team a fielder during their innings.  Chloe Williams cleaned bowled their county opener on the first ball of the innings and Anjali Smith repeating the feat with the 3rd ball and 5th ball of the next over.
St Lawerence ended up on 83 for 8 off their 80 balls with Chloe. Anjali, Emily Surridge all picking up a brace.  Sophie Hogben and a run out accounting for the other two wickets.
Unfortunately the team conceded 14 no balls giving away 2 runs and a free hit on each occasion.   Take that statistic out of the equation it shows how fantastic the girls played against a very strong team.  Their attitude, effort and approach to the game was outstanding and it was one of the best performances from our colts this year.  They were a credit to themselves and the Club.
Also thank you to the St Lawerence team and their coach Stewart who were a great bunch and played in the right spirit.
The team looks forward to the next match v Ashford in June
