The league campaign for 2025 reached the halfway mark this weekend.
The 1s were at home to Sibton Park and elected to bat. Openers Tom Carey (11) and James Weller (10) reached double figures but unfortunately wickets fell regularly and only Mike Willis (38) reached double figures thereafter as the team was bowled out for 106 in the 27th over.
Opening bowler Ben Wiebe-Williams (1 for 26) picked up an early wicket and was supported well by Tyler Wassell (5 overs 0 for 9) and while the bowling was kept tight the visitors crossed the lien witht he loss of only one further wicket in the 29th over. Haris Khan taking the other wicket.
The 2s travelled Findsbury and elected to field Tom Gunner (2 for 26) and Ethan Collier (1 for 24) took three early wickets but the middle order knuckled down and the next 6 batsman all reached double figures. Adam Rayner (2 for 26), Alan Hampton (1 for 31) and Amith Lokesh (1 for 19) picked up wickets and was supported well by Lee Cogger (9 overs 0 for 35) and the home team reached 169 for 8 in their 40 overs.
A couple of early wickets put pressure but Will Surridge was going well until he was run out on 36. Alan Hampton (15), Adam Rayner (18) and Jake Connolly (13) all chipped away at the total but it was a fine 46 no from Ethan Collier support well from a couple of bi hits from Tom Gunner (13 no) that saw the team home with two wickets and 15 balls to spare. The 2s are now only 5 points behind the league leaders.
The 3s were at home to Dartford and elected to field. Henry Louden on debut bowled well picking up his first senior wicket (1 for 34) but the top order batting was strong and runs started to pile on. A run out helped with the score on 90 but another Dartford kept the runs coming as the third partnership reached 182 before the next wicket. The visitors finished on 238 for 3 after their 40 overs.
Kev Miles (33) and Aaryan Rajgor (17) got the team off to a good start reaching 49 for the opening stand. Aaryan was dismissed with a peach of a ball which brought Tony Hadfield to the crease who looked as if he was finally going to achieve his maiden 50 for the club but missed out 7 runs short. Lincoln Bryden added 15 to the total as the team strived for a batting point but fell 2 runs short as they reached 146 for 8 at close of play
The Sunday XI were away to Exiles at Kenfield and were put into the field. The home team were 59 for 4 off 12 overs when the match was abandoned due to the heavy rain
