The 1s won and important bottom half of the league clash at home on Saturday against Addington Village.

Bapchild decide to bat but lost an early wicket.  However a good stand from Tom Carey (25) and Matt Lewis (64) got the team back on track. Three quick wickets put the pressure back on but a 46 from Ricky Dale helped the team reach 205 for 9 off their 45 overs.

Addington started well keeping up with the run rate comfortably until Harry Mantle (9 overs 2 for 18) and Ricky Dale (2 for 48) made the break through with four wickets falling quickly.   Addington rallied and the middle order dug in taking singles and hitting the bad ball.   James Sutton broke the partnership with a run out and Tom Carey caught the new batsman in the deep who was looking dangerous. Addington kept on for the win and a one stump run out from Tom Carey looked to be enough to stop it from happening.  The visitors now required 24 from the last two overs but good bowling from Joe Mills and Tom meant Addington finished on 197 for 7 at the end of their innings leaving them 8 runs short.

The 2s travelled to Dartford and elected to field.   The home team got off to a solid start scoring 46 before Tom Gunner (1 for 32) made the breakthrough.  Alan Hampton and Adam Rayner (2 for 33) came on at the change picking up three wickets between them for just no runs.  Dartford dug in but a run out by Archie Covey followed up by him taking a wicket on his return to the Club made another breakthrough. Alan (3 for 25) and returning to the attack Ethan Collier (1 for 29)  both picked up further wickets as Darford slumped to 109 for 8.  Unfortunately Dartford’s wicket keeper and their number 10 & 11 decide the innings was not lost and put on a 44 and 42 run partnership respectively losing their final wicket on the last ball of the match as they reached 197.

An early wicket put on pressure but Alan Hampton (39) and returning Ben Fulton (23) steadied the ship but on Ben’s dismissal similar to the first innings two further wickets fell for just 1 run. Adam Rayner (24 no)  tried to build partnership but apart from Tom Gunner (15) no other batsman managed double figures as the team found themselves all out for 133 in the 37th over.

The 3s entertain Orpington Ocelots who they had beaten on the first game of the league season.   Put into the field Henry Louden (1 for 26) and Linc Bryden opened the bowling with Linc (1 for 11) mading the breakthrough. Ethyn Corollo (1 for 18) debuting at senior level picked up his first senior wicket as the visitors found themselves 17 for 2.  Jay Sharma spun his way through the middle order picking up his best senior figures of 9 overs 4 for 32.   Tony Corollo chipped in with a wicket (1 for 24) helped by a great catch by Henry Louden and Ella Hadler (5 overs 0 for 16) kept it tight as the vistors were kept to 130 for 9 off their allotted 40 overs

Two early wickets left Aaryn Rajgor (13) and Tony Corollo (14) to steady the ship but three wickets for 14 runs out the pressure back on.  Caleb Deveson (32no) and Linc (30) put on a 41 run partnership bringing the game closer to Bapchild.  With three runouts as the team tried to cross the line the final over saw the Club needing 12 and agonisingly falling just 2 short.  A great game for both teams.

The Sunday XI didn’t have a game this week.
