Dylan Tons Up

bcc-bg1

Dylan Lee played his first game of the season and opened his account with a superb 103

The 2nd XI travelled to Ashford Town and was put into bat.  An early wicket looked like the home team would take charge but a superb partnership from Dylan Lee (103) and James Weller (68) regained the advantage and with Joe Mills (25) and Michael Neame (15 no) saw the team declaring on 242 for 5 at the end of the 44th over.

After tea wickets fell regularly but one of the openers carried his bat through the innings and despite giving themselves two extra overs through the declaration the team were just two wickets short at the close giving them a second winning draw for the second week in a row.

The first XI were at home to Blackheath 3rd XI at on winning the toss decided to bat.  The top order contributed Adam Larking (12), Daniel Pumfrett (25), Lee Tayor (37), Matt Lewis (19), Callum Leary (23) and Tomas Carey (24).  Unfortunately none could “kick on” and with the opening bowler returning and picking up 5 wickets the team found themselves all out for 168

Openers Owen Harrison (3 for 24) and Adam Rayner (1 for 28) had the visitors 18 for 3.  Blackheath rallied but captain Ricky Dale destroyed any chance real recovery with a superb 6 for 13 off 8 overs. The visitors found themselves all out for 122 in the 37th over.

The 3rd XI were away to Staplehurst 2nd XI and found themselves put into bat. Simon Cosstick (38) and Nathan Glazier (16) got the team off to a good start and supported by William Cosstick (28).  Unfortunately wickets fell rapidly and part from a small tail wag by the Chairman (14 no) the team was all for 134 in the 38th over

Some inconsistent bowling was punished early on but a wicket from Ethan Cosstick (1 for 22) brought some hope.  However 19 runs from the Chairman’s opening over (Clubmark stops me from repeating Mrs Chairman’s description of the over) put the home team in a very comfortable position and they reached the target in the 21st over for the loss of just two wickets.

The Sunday XI were away to Selling on Sunday and was put into the field. Some early wickets put the pressure but the mid-order  fought back and the home team reached 220 for 9 in their allotted overs.  Pick of the bowling was Steve Roberts (4 for 44) and James Weller (2 for 12)

A couple of early wickets put pressure on but Ricky Dale (36) and supported by James Sutton (17), Steve Roberts (31) and Michael Willis (39) pushed the score but were unable to build on good individual starts and the team found themselves all out for 160 in the 39 over.
