Captain’s Innings Not Quite Enough

bcc-bg1

A half century from 2nd XI captain Nick Page was not quite enough to pick up a win against Leeds & Broomfield at the weekend.

At home the visitors put on 216 before being bowled out on the last ball of the innings with their middle order doing the damage when the Bapchild looked on top.  Pick of the bowling was Adam Rayner (4 for 31), Lee Cogger (2 for 35) and Adam Watson (2 for 50)

After tea the top order all scored but none were able to push on until captain Nick Page scored another half century before being bowled.  Chris Knope (36) and Lee Cogger (13) put up a good challenge to get the team over the line but 22 runs short at the close of the innings for 7 wickets

The 1st XI travelled to Old Williamsonians and the home team chose to bat first. A strong top order put on 199 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs with all the bowlers bowling well and picking up the odd wicket each.

Unfortunately on fairly variable bounce wicket the team succumbed to being bowled out for 72 in the 24th over with only Ricky Dale (23), Tyler Wassell (18) and Cameron Archbold (10) making double figures

The 3rd XI unfortunately had to concede their game and the Sunday XI had no fixture
