The Sunday XI fell 60 runs short at the weekend as they chased Worth’s 236 despite James Weller’s 85 not out and Linc Bryden’s 50
At home to Worth the team was put into the field by the visitors and despite an early wicket from Tom Gunner, who bowled his 9 overs well taking 1 for 27, Worth add to the score freely reaching 97 before the second wicket fell to Tom Carey (1 for 38). Ethan Collier (1 for 62) picked up the opener with the score on 173 and Ella (1 for 37) cheaply removed their number five for 2 but Worth continued to score reaching 236 for 4 in their allotted 40 Overs. Nice to see Linc Bryden’s son Harvey debut for the seasons after a long lay off after leaving the the colts.
Four early wickets placed the team under early pressure but a 93 run stand between James Weller (85 not out) and Linc Bryden (50) raised some hope but after Linc was caught the remaining 4 wickets fell for just 15 runs as the team were bowled out in the last over 60 runs short.
The 1st XI were away to Cobham in the two Club’s double header. Having put the home team into bat Cobham’s openers built a good platform both scoring half centuries before Tom Carey (3 for 37) and Kesha Rajadurai (1 for 23) made the break removed them. Harry Mantle (1 for 56) picked up and a run out by Kesha was the only two t other wickets to fall as the home team reached 248 for 6 in their 45 overs. In reply many of the batsman made a start with 8 players reaching double figures (James Weller 36, Joe Mills 36, Rob Kennett 23, Tom Carey 17, Ethan Collier 17 no, Matt Lewis 15, Chris Hogg 12 and Harry Mantle 11) but unfortunately none managed to kick on as the team fell 44 runs short and being bowled all out on the last ball of the game.
The 2nd XI played at home against Cobham 2nd XI. Deciding to field the opposition started strongly until Glenn Kennett (2 for 32) and Ollie Jullier (4 for 23) made the break through. Wickets fell thereafter with Jacob Carter picking up a brace (2 for 36) but unfortunately Cobham’s number picked up a rapid 43 att he end of the innings as they reached 193 for 9 off their 40 overs
A slow start after the break meant the team was always up against the run chase – contributions from Glenn Kennett (43 not out), Simon Cosstick (22), Chris Knope (16), Yuvraj Rajgor (12) and Jacob Carter (12 not out) as the team reached 127 for 5 in their allotted overs
High Halstow concede their game against the 3rd XI
The U16s had a good win against Minster on Monday evening scoring 165 for 5 in their 20 overs and bowling the opposition out for 106 in the 14th over
