The Club had a great night celebrating the season at its Annual Dinner & Dance
After an enjoyable three course meal the club celebrated the clubs and individual successes from the 2016 season.
The Chairman spoke of the Club’s history and that it formed just 22 years after the oldest recognised cricket club in 1874.
He went on to congratulate both the junior and senior sections for making 2016 such a successful season. The junior section had won the U15 League and Cup, the U13 League, runners up in the U11 League and Cup, winner of the U11 Plate and the U9s had reached the county’s finals day which was one of 24 clubs out of 96 that had entered the competition. He thanked Richard (Arch) Archbold (Development Manager), coaches and young leaders that had worked so hard throughout the year. He also thanked Arch for the work he had put in achieving the Club Mark Accreditation for another 3 years.
The Chairman then spoke of the senior teams where the 1st team had come 6th but had a few close games gone the right way and the weather had not played a part we would have finished higher. The 2nd XI finished 4th in their first year back in Division 5 of the Kent League (2nd) while the 3rd XI won 7 games almost matching the 10 games they had won in the previous 5 years combined showing how successfully and how important it was to have a 3rd XI. The Sunday XI after getting off to a poor start won all their games from July onwards and finishing a fantastic 3rd place in the KVL Division 1. It was also fantastic for the club that Glenn Kennett (42 wickets) & Ricky Dale (615 runs) had won the Kent League Division 5 (2nd and 1st team) awards respectively
The Chairman thanked all those involved in the club and for making the club such a great place
