The 2nd XI were involved in a fantastic chase in the opening league game of the season again High Halstow 2nd XI
Put into the field by the home team saw High Halstow get off to a flier with the first three batsmen scoring well and promising to set a high score. Good bowling in the last 20 overs kept the score down to 232 at the close of the innings with the loss of just 3 wickets
Bapchild replied steadily (James Weller 26, Nick Page 37) but with 100 needed of the last 15 overs the home were growing in confidence. An excellent 45 from Joe Cooper supported well by debutants Callum Leary (32) and Adam Watson (33 no) left Michael Neame to to hit a six to win the match at the end of the penultimate over with 2 wickets remaining. Nice to see all batsman reaching double figures.
The 1st XI were on the other end of the double header against High Halstow. Choosing to field Bapchild bowled well keeping a good batting line up to 192 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs (Ricky Dale 3 for 53, Alan Hampton 2 for 24)
Unfortuantely wickets fell early after tea and apart from some small resistance in the middle order the team found themselves all out in the 34 over for 99
The 3rd XI travelled to Faversham to play their 2nd XI in the KRCL league. Fielding first Bapchild played well but with early season stiffness was guilt of dropping to many balls short allowing two batsman to score 150 of the 214 runs scored as the home team completed their innings for the loss of 4 wickets (Neil Bloor 2 for 33, Ashley Bax 2 for 34)
Bapchild started steady after tea (Nathan Glazier 43, Debutant Joe Mather 13). Unfortunately wickets fell regularly and apart a small waggle from the tail found themselves all out in the 39th overs for 143
The Sunday XI did not have a game
