The Sunday XI travelled to Great Chart at the weekend and was put into bat by the home team. A superb opening partnership from Adam Larking (53) and James Weller (51) got the team off to a great start. Thomas Carey (17) and Lee Taylor (23) chipped in but wickets fell and the team found themselves bowled out for 167 but picking up the batting point.
Some good bowling from openers Joshua Hunt and Matthew Roche built good pressure on the home team and although hadn’t lost a wicket by the half way mark found themselves only on 64 runs – Ricky Dale (3 for 18) made the initial breakthrough and supported by Lee Taylor (2 for 29) and Nick Page (2 for 15) meant the game was won and opts secured by the time of the last overs. Great Chart were 8 wickets down but Josh Hunt (3 for 22) in his last over picked up two wickets including one on the last ball of the match to secure a full 6 point win
The 1st XI entertained top of the league Tonbridge who decided to bat first. Wickets fell regularly with sharp bowling from Alan Hampton (3 for 39), Ricky Dale (3 for 15) and Matthew Roche (2 for 31) saw the visitors bowled out in the 40th over for 132
Unfortunately some good bowling from Tonbridge meant the team found themselves all out for 62 with the only resistance coming from Adam Larking (24)
The 2nd XI travelled to Bromley Town and was put into the field. Shiv Patel had to stand in as opening bowler and produced a superb 2 for 33 off 14 overs. Supported well from Michael Neame the home team found themselves 108 for 2 off 30 overs with only 16 runs coming from the previous 10 overs. Unfortunately the pressure could not be kept up and the Bromley Town ended on 230 for 5 at the close of the innings
The team got off to a steady start but unlike the home team were unable to push on and found themselves all out for 145 in the 45th over. Highlights of the innings inform James Weller’s 33 run and the Chairman just missing out on another 50 falling just 47 runs short before running out of partners !
The 3rd XI played Sherwood at home and was put into bat by the visitors. Similar to the Chairman in the above game James Elkin (48 no) just missed out on a half century as he run out of partners with the score on 90.
Sherwood cruised home with the loss of only two wickets in the 21st over
