153 not out

Ricky Dale continued his rich vein of form hitting a superb 153 not out in Sunday’s Kent Village League match.

The Sunday 1st XI travelled to Egerton and was put into bat by the home team.   Couple of early wickets put some early pressure but Ricky to command with the score on just 17.  Once again batting superbly passed his 50, then 100 and finally his 150 reaching 153 not out by the close of the innings with the score on 301 for 5.  He had been supported well on the way by Cameron Archbold (78) scoring his first half century of the season, Lee Taylor (19) and James Sutton (18)

Three early wickets from opener Owen Harrison put the pressure on the home team immediately.   Egerton rallied in the middle order until Steve Roberts (3 for 44) and Ricky Dale 2 for 63 broke through leaving Owen to mop up as the team bowled the opposition out for a respectable 258 in reply

The Saturday 1st team were at home to Harvel  and on winning the toss elected to bat. Two early wickets put pressure on early but similar to what was to follow the next day Ricky took command scoring an excellent 88 supported by Dylan Lee (31) and Lee Taylor (16).  Lee supported Ricky well and on finally pushing on himself by hitting two good fours in consecutive balls and announcing to umpire Barry Wood he actually felt good was then run out next ball by Ricky!.  Don’t you just love Cricket !!.  Cameron Archbold chipped in with 28 and a cameo from James Weller saw the team reach 195 before being bowled all out in the 50th over.

The team got off to a great start picking up the first 2 wickets for just 2 runs.  Harvel steadied themselves and started to put some partnerships together but some great bowling by Darrell Carter (3 for 39 off 14 overs), Ricky Dale (2 for 53), James Weller (2 for 45) and a good second spell from Adam Rayner (1 for 46) left Harvel needing 3 off the last ball.   Darrell finished in the spirit that he bowled all afternoon and the opposition could only score 1 run giving the team an important winning draw.

The twos travelled to Holborough Anchorians and was put into bat.  The team got off to a solid start with an opening partnership of 77 from Rob Kennett (36) and Steve Pumfrett who scored his maiden half century for the club (56).  Simon Cosstick took over missing just out on a half century with a good 46.  Dan Pumfrett on debut also just missed out on his maiden 50 when he was bowled on 48. Michael Neame chipped in with 22 before the team was bowled out in the 45th over for 231

Owen Harrison (4 for 48) was in the wickets early and supported by Michael Neame (2 for 49) but it took Rob Kennett (3 for 38) to break the middle order with some fine spin bowling (who needs Kennett Snr – especially as Rob takes less time to warm up !!).  The home team reached 188 for 9 in their allotted overs.

The thirds were away to Lordswood and elected to bowl.   Lordswood scored well although the team picked up regular wickets and at the end of their 40 overs had reached 248 for 8.  Pick of the bowlers Cameron Stevens (2 for 23) and Graeme Corner (2 for 51).

Wickets fell regular in the teams innings but Neil Bloor (33) played a cameo as did the tail but the were finally bowled out for 125 in the 33rd over.
