Nick Page led his team to victory with a mature knock of 71
The Twos were at home to Holborough Anchorians in their second league match of the season. Winning the toss and electing to field wickets fell early with Owen Harrison (4 for 31) unplayable opening spell picking three early wickets and the opposition finding themselves 7 for 3. From there they rallied putting on 86 before Ben Cooper (1 for 27) broke the partnership. Graeme Corner (1 for 6) removed the main run scorer aided by a good catch from Nick Page before being removed from the attack through injury. James Weller (1 for 29) and Daryl Carter (1 for 48) kept the wickets falling and the Holborough found themselves on 172 for 9 at the close of their innings
The innings opened similarly to the first with wickets falling almost immediately with Bapchild finding themselves 18 for 4 off the first 12 overs. A stand of 43 by Nick Page and Tony Hadfield (20) settled the team before Tony was dismissed. James Weller (19) joined Nick in the middle and gave support as Nick masterfully display of patience and fine strokes putting on 51 partnership before James was stumped. Nick passed his 50 shortly afterwards and both he and Daryl looked like they would finish the game until Nick was caught reaching for a slow ball. His match winning 71 had put the team within 15 runs of victory. Daryl and Graeme got it within 7 runs and a confident Ben Cooper replaced Graeme to complete the job with 2 wickets and 10 balls to spare. Daryl remained 23 not out
The First team travelled to Harvel and on loosing the toss was put into the field. Adam Larking (1 for 32) and Michael Neame (1 for 36) broke through early and the home team found themselves 20 for 2 of the first four. Some missed catches let Harvel back in as the next two batsmen achieved their half centuries. They were both finally removed by Ricky Dale (4 for 60) and some fine bowling by Michael Willis (2 for 73) kept the home team to 216 for 9 off their allowed 50 overs.
After tea while 8 batmen reached double figures with the pick being Michael Willis 31, Matt Lewis 28 and Dylan Lee 24 no one kicked on and the team found themselves all out and 48 runs short
The Thirds were at home to Lordswood 3XI and were put into bat. Ethan Collier opened and scored a mature 28 supported by Kevin Coles (34). Only Captain Steve Hogg (17) and Ashley Bax (15) managed to reach double figures and the team found themselves all out for 138 in the 39th over.
Eight bowlers were used by Bapchild after tea with Ashley Bax (2 for 22), Steve Pumfrett (1 for 8) and William Cosstick (1 for 12) getting in amongst the wickets before Lordswood reached their target with 6 wickets and 7 overs to spare
The Sunday 1XI played their first Kent Village League game of the season. Many players playing their first ever KVL match performed well against Exiles at Bridge in an away fixture. Put into the field the home scored consistently through out their order and although none reached 40 the team managed to score 226 for 7 off their 40 overs. Pick of the bowling was James Weller 2 for 56 and Nick Page who bowled extremely economically (1 for 13 off 6)
Thomas Carey showed his usual maturity by opening the batting and scoring a excellent 77 before dismissed LBW. James Sutton (28) and Ricky Dale (30) supported well but the team found themselves 53 runs short at the end of their 40 overs
