Bapchild Win Indoor Cup Final
Congratulations the Bapchild’s 1st team who won the Indoor Cup at the end of January
SEMI FINAL
The 1st team met our 2nd Team in the semi-final – The twos decided to put the first team in to bat and good bowling from Harry Mantle meant a reasonably slow start. Shortly afterwards Steve Roberts was run out (again!) but his opening partner and Captain James Sutton retired on 25. Joe Mills and Chris Hogg also went on to score 25 before retiring and Tyler Wassell 20 odd. With Tyler out and also Owen Harrison James Sutton returned going on to score well in the 40s and the team finishing after their allotted 10 overs on 162.
It was always going to be tough chasing probably on of the highest scores of the season and with good bowing from Owen and Joe the twos were restricted to just over 60 off their 10 overs. Brandon Glenn reaching 25.
FINAL
So on to the final against a strong VETS team (age not career !) who had been crowned the Indoor League champions just the week before. The 1st team won the toss and elected to bat and got off to a blistering start scoring 47 off the first two overs. James, Rob Kennett and Steve Roberts all scoring 25 – three quick wickets meant the pressure was back on the team but fine batting from Joe Mills and the returning James and Rob meant the team scored a respectable 130 of their 10 overs.
A good opening spell from Steve and Joe including a good juggling c & b from Steve followed by two good run outs meant the Vets folded and were all out for 65
Congratulations not only to the 1st team but also the twos. Both teams played the whole indoor season in the spirit that defines our club.
