2s still in promotion chase after Linc gets a Hat-trick

The 2XI are still in an outside chance of promotion after their win against Offham on Saturday

At home skipper Nick Page elected to field – Ethan Collier (7 overs for 6 runs) Adam Rayner (6 overs for 10 runs) and Alan Hampton (10 overs for 31 runs) put pressure on the top order but it took Luke Whitehouse (3 for 38) to finally remove them.    Scoring was slow and the visitors found themselves 168 for 5 with three balls to go.  Linc Bryden (4 for 28) was bowling the last over and Offham finally finished 168 for 8 as Linc pick up a hat trick with the last three balls of the innings.

After tea sensible batting from in-form Nathan Glazier (73), Linc Bryden (40) and Alan Hampton (39 no)  saw the team home with 13.2 overs and 8 wickets to spare

With the 18 points win and news that the team had been awarded a forfeit win from the Hartley match a couple of weeks earlier leaves them requiring a win over second position Leeds and Broomfield (and keeping them to under 6 bonus points) at this Saturday’s last match of the season

The 1XI were away in the Offham double header – electing to bat the team got off to a good start with Matt Lewis (44), Ricky Dale (39), Chris Knope (30) and Callum Leary (48) but unfortunately wickets fell regularly afterwards and the team were all out for 191 in the 45th over

Harry Mantle (2 for 40) picked up a couple of early wickets  and Owen Harrison (10 for 20 runs) and Ricky Dale (1 for 23 off 10 overs) applied good pressure and all though the home team lost three more wickets they were able to cross the line with 7 3 overs and 4 wickets to spare

There was no 3XI or Sunday XI game this weekend
