The 1s lost at the weekend breaking their unbeaten run however it was great to see Callum Leary return to play cricket after a long absence.
The 1s travelled to league leaders Whitstable and we put into the field by the home team. Ethan Collier (4 for 62) removed the two openers after they had a good start. Kesha Rajadurai (3 for 39) and Tom Carey (2 for 35) bowled well as did Will Cosstick (1 for 41) and the final score of 243 all out did not reflect the good bowling and fielding by the team on a small pitch.
Openers Tom Carey (50) and James Weller (37) got the team off to a good start but wickets fell regularly after their dismissals with only Daniel Covey (40) reaching double figures as the team found themselves all out for 172 in the 34th over.
The 2s entertained top of the league Holcombe and Blue Bell 1s and decided to bat. Wickets fell early but returning Callum Leary after a couple years absence due to ill health was back into it scoring 42. Anthony Burbury (18) and Steve Botting (10) supported well and Tom Gunner’s 25 got the team to 136 in the 39th over.
Hopes were high when Lee Cogger (1 for 30) took an early wicket however a strong batting pair from the visitors saw them pass the target with 9 wickets and 21 overs to spare.
The 3s shared points when both teams had to concede due to availability
The Sunday XI didn’t have a game this weekend
