Will Gets His Maiden Half Century

bcc-bg1

Will Cosstick scored his maiden half century for the Club at senior level

The 2nd XI entertained Addington on the hot day of the year.  Losing the toss they took to the field.  Adam Watson took a wicket in the over and some fine bowling from Ethan Collier (2 for 40) pressure started to build.  However, stubborn innings from the Addington captain and two others saw the score steadily build.  William Cosstick (2 for 24) and Daniel Gunner (0 for 27)  bowled well with the Chairman chipping in with 1 for 41.  The visitors scored 253 for 6 off their allotted overs.

After tea the team got off to a good start with openers Adam Watson (27) and Nathan Glazier (23),  Wickets fell but Steve Pumfrett (35) and a fine innings from Will (70) put the team in reach. Unfortunately it was not to be and with the Chairman missing out on his 50 by just 42 runs the team found them all out for 210 in the 44th over.   Will had some close a number  of times at senior level including the Chairman giving him out on 49 however he showed great maturity striking the ball hard for his maiden half century.

The 1st XI travelled to top of the league Frindsbury and on what was a surprisingly damp wicket for the hottest day of the year were put into bat and were bowled out for 115 with James Weller (24) and Callum Leary (29) reaching any major score.  Frindsbury also struggled and were 85 for 5 at one point but managed to cross the line with 4 wickets to spare.  Owen Harrison (2 for 29) and Ricky Dale (2 for 28) pick of the bowling.

The 3rd XI unfortunately had to concede and the Sunday XI opponents also conceded
