Un BEE lievable Win !!

Bees v Rodmersham home 2017
With most of the under 11 players on school trips or doing after school plays it was a very inexperienced Bees side that met Rodmersham at home in the league on Thursday 13th July.
Only 3 of the usual squad members were available which gave opportunity for 2 part squad members, 1 young colt who hadn’t played since 2016 and 2 U9 colts playing up an age group and cricket hard ball for the first time !! So we knew we was up against it
Old heads of George Ward and Will Foster took up the reins of captain and vice captain and decided to field first.  Shins and feet and the odd hand were used to field the ball and, its has to be said, a few wides were bowled but with great spirit and attitude Rodmersham were restricted to 247 for 5 with Archie Covey doing the most damage with the ball.
Girls Katie and Louisa opened the Bees innings and batted sensibly to get the ball rolling.  They were followed by Cameron and Ashley who set a good foundation for the run chase.   Then Archie Covey and young Tom Flannagan came to the crease and the fun really started. They had obviously decided to run on everything and it was mayhem but also very effective with some singles being turned into twos !!
George and Will last pair at the crease and batted out the overs with the Bees ending up on 255 for 1 to win the match.
Steve Hogg, who coaches the team, said it was the most satisfying win of the season watching a very young inexperienced team play so well together and produce a win that they all thoroughly deserved on the night.
Well done to all who took part in an amazing and very enjoyable game of cricket
