Twos have an Early Finish

The 2nd XI had an early finish in their league game against Harvel at the weekend

The visitors elected to bat and came under early pressure from openers Michael Neame (1 for 33) and Michael Willis (1 for 16 – at one stage 8 overs for 8 runs).  A change of bowling continued to apply the pressure as some fine bowling from Lee Cogger (4 for 17) and Ashley Bax (4 for 23) wrapped up the innings with the score on 90 at the end of the 28th over

Deciding to carry on before taking tea Michael Willis (18) got the team off to a good start and James Weller (39 no) and Nathan Glazier (28 no) finished off the game in 13th over for the loss of just the one wicket with the clock just reaching 3:40pm

The 1st XI went to top of the league Frindsbury and were put into the field. Owen Harrison (4 for 26) struck early and pressure continued as Ricky Dale (4 for 57) and Lee Taylor (1 for 22) gradually removed the middle order.  Openers Owen and Adam Rayner (1 for 31) returned to mop up the tail bowling the home team out for 163 on the last ball on the innings

After tea and on a very difficult wicket the team struggled to get going and found themselves 19 for 4.  Callum Leary (29 no) and Owen Harrison (18) put up some resistance but unfortunately they found themselves all out for 80 in the 27th over.

The 3rd XI entertained Rumwood and decided to put the visitors into bat. Wickets fell regularly and Rumwood was held to 172 for 8 in their allotted overs.   Pick of the bowling David Burgin (2 for 23) and Brian Carey (2 for 26)

Unfortunately the team struggled after tea with only Simon Harrison (13) and Robert Hawkes (12) made double figures as they found themselves all out for 71 in the 32nd over

The Sunday XI did not play this weekend

A slightly tenuous link but due to the early finish two’s player Steve Pumfrett was able to join the Chairman and friends in Rodmersham for the village’s annual hog roast in aid of charity.   Dessert was Strawberries and Cream and when Steve enquired to the lady serving if she had any low fat cream she observantly replied “You don’t look like someone who has low fat cream” !!!    Honesty hurts Steve !!!!
