Simon and Nick’s partnership secures another win for 2s

Simon Cosstick (87 no) and Nick Page (76 no ) secured another win for the 2nd XI at the weekend

 Bapchild elected to bowl in their home game against Cobham.  Both openers Lee Cogger (10 overs 0 for 28) and Jake Mitchell (9 overs 0 for 24) bowled well and was matched by William Cosstick (3 for 46) and Glenn Kennett (1 for 24) who then removed the top order. Callum Leary picked up 3 wickets for 28 as the opposition reached 218 for 7 in their 46 overs

First game of the season for Adam Larking (19) opened with Simon Cosstick (87 no) and they got the team off to a good start.  Calum Leary added 10 to the score before being bowled but Nick Page (76 no) then joined Simon with unbeaten partnership which saw the team win by 8 wickets with 7.2 overs to spare

The 1st XI travelled to King’s Hill for the Division 4 match and was put into the field.  Owen Harrison (2 for 29) picked up an early wicket but it took time to break the next partnership which was finally broken by Ricky Dale (2 for 28 ) and Ton Carey (1 for 25). Tyler Wasssell (1 for 51) chipped in with one wicket as the home team reached 202 for 6 in a weather reduce innings of 40 overs.

Lee Taylor (37) and Matt Lewis (20) got the team off to a good start but wickets fell regularly and apart from Chris Knope (28) no one else got into double figures as the team were all out for 121 in the 32nd over

The 3XI visited Yalding and was put into the field.  Ashley Bax (10 overs 1 for 12) bowled well supported by Shiv Patel (10 overs for 25).  The colts bowled well with Ben Dutnall picking up his first senior wicket (1 for 34) and Freddie Corner (0 for 24).  Brian Carey (1 for 59) picked up one wicket and Callum Harrison (2 for 63) removed the two danger men but the damage was done as the  opposition scored 226 for 5 off their allotted 40 overs.

Wickets fell regularly after tea with top scores coming from Guy Wakefield (21), Richard Philips (20), Brian Carey (18) and Ashley Bax (17) and the team was bowled out for 136 in the 36th over.  Nice to see Graeme Corner getting to bat with his son Freddie

The Sunday XI travelled to Smarden on Sunday and elected to bat. Ricky Dale got back into form with 52 runs but wickets again fell regularly with only Will Cosstick (29 no) put on a score as the team found themselves all out for 161 at the end of the 34th over.

The team put up a good fight with some fine bowling from Daniel Gunner (1 for 22) and Oscar Hird (2 for 25). Ricky Dale (2 for 18) picked up a brace but there was never enough runs on the board as the opposition reached the total in with 5 wickets and 17 balls to spare.
