Rob Kennett got his long awaited maiden century on Saturday, Ella Hadler picked up her first senior 5 wicket haul and the 1XI beat top of the league Staplehurst at their place

The 2nd XI entertained Bromley Town at the weekend and the visitors decided to field.  Rob Kennett and John Heatley opened the innings and once again showed the strength in their paring as both passed their half centuries.   John was finally run out on 62 but Rob kept to the task supported by Nathan Glazier (17) and Nick Page (14 no) to reach his long awaited and well deserved first century before being bowled for 106.  The team reached 228 for 3 in their allotted 46 overs.

Adam Rayner (1 for 26) and Ethan Collier (1 for 27) soon removed the openers but as the visitors tried to dig in Joe Mills (4 for 17 off 10 overs) and Lee Cogger (3 for 22 off 7 overs) removed any chance of success as they bowled out Bromley Town for 126 in the 34th over

The 1s travelled to league leaders Staplehurst who also elected to field.  The Bapchild top order did their job with Matt Lewis (24), Ricky Dale (50) and Lee Taylor (61) all adding to the score.  However once removed wickets fell regularly with only Owen Harrison (14) putting up any main resistance and the team were bowled out for 205 in the 46th over

After tea Owen Harrison (2 for 18) picked up a couple of early wickets but Staplehurst bat sensibly and started to edge towards the target.  It took a great spell from Thomas Carey (4 for 34 off 10 overs) to remove the middle order leaving Matt Lewis (2 for 21) and a brief but effective cameo from Lee Taylor (1 for 10) to finish off the home team in the 48th over and still 31 runs short.

The 3rd XI were at home to top of the league Egerton who arriving with a strong team elected to bat.  Ella Hadler and Daniel Gunner opened  the bowling well put pressure on the batsman with some good seam and swing bowling.   Anthony Burbury picked up a good couple of catches of Ella in her first spell and when Isabelle Julier (1 for 32) replaced her, and bowled some big in dippers, danger batsman Steve Wellard holed out a good diving catch from Dan Gunner.   The middle order started to take the game away but Christian Roberts (1 for 28) bowling for the first time at senior level pick up his first wicket.  With 8 overs to go Egerton looked poised to launch a final attack but with Daniel Gunner (2 for 47) picking up two and Ella returning to also pick up a brace, the visitors were contained.   On the last ball of the innings Ella beat Egerton’s captain with a ball that just left him and took his off stump to pick her first 5 wicket haul at senior level.  Egerton had reached 231 for 9 in their 40 overs.

After tea openers Ian Hird (30) and the Chairman (19) started well and were matched by  Christian Roberts (14) and Anthony Burbury (23) however wickets fell regularly with no one else reaching double figures as Bapchild found themselves bowled out for 112 at the start of the 33rdover

Bapchild returned to Staplehurst for the second time in the weekend as the Sunday team played in the Kent Village League. Deciding to bat the home team put on 233 for 5 off their 40 overs. Bapchild used 9 bowlers with Steve Roberts (2 for 21), Linc Bryden (1 for 23) and Owen Harrison (1 for 36) picking up the wickets

Bapchild responded well after tea with 8 players reaching double figures.   Although wickets fell regular a good stand in the middle order from  Owen Harrison (60 no) and William Cosstick (28) meant the team crossed the line with 7 balls and 1 wicket remaining
