Owen’s 7 for 16 sets up emphatic win


Owen Harrison took 7 wickets for just 16 runs in just 8 overs to set up a 10 wicket win against Hartley at the weekend.

The 1st XI travelled Hartley and on winning the toss decided to bowl first. Owen and Tyler Wassell (2 for 15) were quickly in the wickets as the home team slumped to 35 for 9 in the first 15 overs.  It took Kesha Rajadurai just three balls of his spell to complete the dismissal of the opposition.

James Weller 15no and Matt Lewis 11no knocked off the runs in just 6 overs to win by an impressive 10 wickets


The 2nd XI entertained Catford Cyphers and decided to bat.  After losing an early wicket John Heatley (57) and Chris Knope (53) put on a 118 run 2nd wicket partnership setting up a good platform.  Unfortunately the team were unable to capitalise with only James Sutton (19), Nick Page (12) and Lee Cogger (11) posting double figures as they found themselves all out for 184 in final over.

Jake Mitchell (1 for 30) and Ben Wiebe-Williams (2 for 33) picked up two early wickets but the Cyphers then had a 108 run partnership taking the game away from the 2s.  Ashley Bax picked up 3 for 18 but it was not enough as the visitors crossed the line with 4 wickets to spare in the 40th over.


After their first two games being called off due to the weather the 3rd XI finally played their first game of the league season.   At home to Faversham 2s they were put into bat and wickets fell quickly as the team found themselves 36 for 6.  Captain Lee Taylor came to the rescue scoring 91 not out ably supported by Freddie Corner (15) and his dad Graeme Corner (18) as they put on 93 and 39 run partnerships respectively.  Thanks to their efforts the team reached 176 before being all out at the end of the 39th over.

Opening bowlers Adam Rayner (2 for 18) and Freddie (0 for 5) put pressure from from the start.  Thomas Taylor  (2 for 19) and Graeme (0 for 17) continued the good start and Toby Heather (3 for 11) and Daniel Covey (3 for 3 off 3.3) combined with some great fielding from all of the team completed an excellent opening win as Faversham were bowled out for 79 runs in the 33rd over.


The Sunday XI entertain Harbledown 2s in a Kent Village League match. The visitors decided to bat and Owen Harrison (1 for 17) and William Cosstick (3 for 11) got in amongst the wickets early on supported by Daniel Gunner (0 for 27) and Daniel Covey (0 for 34).    Ella Hadler (1 for 20) picked up stumping from keeper James Sutton as she and Ricky Dale (3 for 11) and Tom Carey (2 for 6) mopped up the middle and lower order bowling the opposition out for 135 in the 36th over.

Four early wickets looked like the team may struggle to reach the total but Ricky Dale (40 no), James Sutton (47) and Owen Harrison (16) saw the team across the line with 5 wickets and 3.5 overs to spare
