Bapchild Cricket Club

Good Effort but No Wins

bcc-bg1

The Club came up short with no wins at the weekend

The first team travelled to Cowdrey with a lot of the regular team missing. On winning the toss Bapchild elected to bat but lost wickets early finding themselves 27 for 4.  Captain Lee Taylor stood solid putting on 42 supported  by Michael Willis 33 but wickets continued to fall and Lee Taylor finally succumbed as the 10th wicket with the score on 121 off only 25.2 overs

Cowdrey got off to a reasonable start and when tea was taken they were on 50 for 2 – Bapchild immediately fought back after tea and wickets began to tumble with Ricky Dale picking up 4 for 36.  Cowdrey found themselves losing three wickets for no runs and 113 for 9.   Bapchild tried everything and when Ricky Dale appeared to have their number eleven LBW it looked like 20 pts from an unlikely win.  Unfortunately it was not out and the game continued with Cowdrey scoring the winning run from a ball that went to hand but could not be held.

A great fight back from the team and unlucky not to come away with maximum points

The twos played Walmer at home and were put into bat by the opposition. Two early wickets put the team under pressure but a mature 35 from opener James Sutton and a mature Glenn Kennett (27) looked to have built a platform for the team.  Unfortunately wickets fell far to regularly as the team tried to push on and the home team found themselves all out for 130 in the 41st over

After tea exceptional bowling by the two openers of Darrell Carter (2 for 26) and Owen Harrison (0 for 11 off 6 overs) put Walmer under pressure. The pressure continued with good spells from Harry Mantle and Barry Wood but the Walmer batsmen dug in knowing they had plenty of overs.  A change of bowling saw a wicket go to Glenn Kennett and James Weller but Walmer comfortably crossed the line in the 38th over with 6 wickets to spare

The threes were at home to local team Milstead

Bapchild won the toss and elected to bat.  Only 4 players managed double figures as the team was kept to 83 for 9 in their 40 overs.

Bapchild managed to pick up 4 wickets during Milstead’s innings but the runs were knocked off in 17.1 overs

The Sunday KVL game against Harvel was abandoned to poor weather after 5.1 overs
