Colts celebrate another successful year
The Club colts celebrated a return to cricket and another successful year at their annual presentation which were held over two nights in mid-October.
After a covid affected 2020 season it was great to get a full season in 2021. Winter nets had been cancelled but Saturday morning training sessions took place in April and it felt like we had never been away as some resemblance of normality had returned. May’s weather wasn’t too kind with lots of rain but once the games got started the colts were well on the way to enjoy the summer months ahead. Bapchild run four teams during the season
At U12 the Broncos played in Division One of the Swale Development league and the Bees represented the Club in Division 2. The Broncos finished the season as Division One Runners-up narrowly missing out on the title to a very strong Faversham side but a very pleasing season overall. The Bees were a younger side and had some impressive wins their division but the highlight of their year was winning the Shield Trophy which was a brilliant achievement.
The U14 Bears came 3rd in their league and the U16 Bulldogs came 2nd in the local Swale league and 3rd in the Medway/Swale combined league.
A number of colts also represented the Club at senior level.
Brothers, sisters, cousins and boys and girls of all abilities from ages 8 to 16 played for the Club and a great time was had by all who took part.
At the presentation evening all colts received a squad medal and special awards were handed out for outstanding achievements during the course of the summer. A good night was had by colts and parents a like over the two nights and it was a fitting way to end the season. Thank you to all the coaches and helpers who gave up their time this year to make the season the success it turned out to be, it is very much appreciated AND a big thank you to all the colts who all played with the spirit and enthusiasm that makes the Club once again very proud.
