All three teams beaten by the weather

bcc-bg1

All three teams on Saturday had incomplete games as the only winner on the day was the weather

The 1st XI entertained Dartfordians and decided to bat.  Adam Larking (89) supported by Chris Knope (23), Ricky Dale (37) and Calum Leary (23) piled on the runs and the scoring continued with Lee Taylor (47 no) Joe Mills (17) and Adam Watson (13 no) also joining in as they reached 271 for 7 in their 50 overs.

Unfortunately not a single ball was bowled after tea as the rain came down and the match was abandoned.

The 2nd XI travelled to Shooters Hill and was put into bat by the home team.   It was tough going on a two speed pitch  and very slow outfield but John Heatley (35) and Nathan Glazier (19) batted sensible.  A the loss of three quick wickets put the pressure on but a steady innings by Glenn Kennett (15 no) allowed James Sutton (20) and Tyler Wassell (29) to play freely and the team were a very respectable 153 for 7 in the allocated overs.

The rain had been coming down steadily towards the end of the first innings and continued through tea.  After a delayed start the home team got off to a flyer but with two delays as the rain got heavier the game was called off with Shooters Hill on 73 for 1 off 9 overs

The 3rd XI travelled to Lenham and played a reduced over match but was abandoned in the 28th over with Lenham on 83 for 5 with William Cosstick (3 for 50) and David Burgin (2 for 19) the pick of the bowling

The Sunday XI had a weekend off

AND FINALLY …..

The 2nd XI travelled up to London in convoy on Saturday and on the way the traffic began to build up and slowed just as they left the M2 and entered the A2 at Cobham.   James Sutton saw Anthony Burbury turn off and decided to follow him on the basis that Anthony knew an alternative route.  After 5 minutes of travelling down side roads James realised that either Anthony had donned a long blonde wig (well it was the weekend !!) or you guessed it, they weren’t following Anthony.   An emergency U-turn was made and subsequently James and passenger Nemo were the last to arrive at the ground !!!!
